A to Z of Fruits
Possibly one of the most popular fruits of all, there are over 7000 varieties.
There is definiteley some truth in the old adage "An Apple A Day Keeps the Doctor away". This versatile fruit juice is the base juice for many juice combinations, providing a mild, sweet juice that compliments rather than overpowers other juices. Yet it is also a wonderfully delicious juice on its own.
Apples are excellent cleansers of the liver, they boost the digestion, can lower cholesterol and improve skin condititon, whilst providing a steady stream of energy. If you want to detox and generally clear out your system, Apples are the perfect fruit. Some varieties are also very rich in vitamin C, so they can help to boost the immune system.
Preparation:
Juicing - Wash thoroughly, remove stalk, chop into pieces small enough to fit into juicer Feed Tube. The entire apple can be juiced, pips and all.
Smoothies - Wash thoroughly, remove core and chop prior to blending.
Contains:
Malic Acid, Tartaric Acid, Betacarotene (Vitamin A), Vitamin C, Potassium (Seeds) Also High in Fibre and Pectin.
Preferred Varieties for Juicing are sharp and crisp such as, Granny Smith, Braeburn, Cox's Orange Pippin, Russet, and Discovery.
Apple juice oxidises quickly to a brown colour but a little lemon juice will slow down this process.
